That giant sucking sound you may be hearing?
Yep, that’s Joe Biden’s chances at being the next President of the United States of America getting sucked down the drain.
A new McLatchy Newspapers/Marist College poll shows that, if she ran, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would be the front runner for the Democrats in the race for the White House.
(This is not news, especially if you listened to Episode 4 of the First in the Nation Podcast!)
Quoting the CNN Political Ticker blog:
According to the poll, 63% of Democrats and independents who lean toward the party say they would back Clinton as their presidential nominee. Vice President Joe Biden comes in a distant second, at 13%, with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at 6%, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley at 1%, and nearly one in five unsure.
Granted, it’s very early to be talking about 2016 but two things are important here:
- Joe Biden is number two by FIFTY points. Anytime you’re the incumbent Vice President and you’re a distant second in a poll like this, you’re essentially the big winner in a no-confidence vote.
- If Hillary is interested in running in 2016, her fund raising just got a whole lot easier.
Honestly, Hillary should have been the nominee in 2008. She got out of the Obama Administration at the right time and really didn’t suffer any negative effects from the Benghazi Hearings.
If she’s in, she’s instantly for real and potentially the next President of the United States.
The run up to 2016 is going to be fun to watch.
