At approximately 10:00pm EST yesterday, Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) had the following status posted on her official Facebook page:
Senator Ayotte announced today that she will withdraw her cosponsorship of the Protect IP Act: “America’s innovators and consumers need to be protected from the very real problem of online piracy. However, the overwhelming input I’ve received from New Hampshire citizens makes it clear there are many legitimate concerns that deserve further consideration before Congress moves forward on this legislation.”
At roughly the same time, the following message was posted on her official Twitter account:
Thx 2 NHers contacting me abt #SOPA #PIPA. I’m pulling my support bc your concerns deserve consideration before Congress moves fwd.
Ayotte’s withdrawal from this legislation is the right move even if she did waited until 10pm to do it. The problem is that she attached herself to it in the first place when a bill like represents everything she was supposedly against.
