Dear Republican Presidential Candidates,
Yesterday, in the first ever “Twitter Town Hall,” President Barack Obama answered my question first out of the tens of thousands submitted.
The question was, “What mistakes have you made in handling this recession and what would you do differently?” His answer, seen by millions of people, boiled down to, “I’d have communicated the message differently and told you it was worse than I did.” He seems to think his mistake was in the spin control and not in his actual response to the problem at hand.
Each of you has announced as a candidate in the New Hampshire Primary–a contest that I will cover on my blog and cast a vote in on Election Day.
Today, I challenge each of you to answer a modified version of that question using as many characters or words as necessary. What steps would you have taken in combating this on-going recession. What is your specific plan? I’m not interested in your talking points–I want to know what substantive action you’d take as President on day one should you be elected.
I look forward to your response.
UPDATED: I’ll even show up with a video camera anywhere in New Hampshire you want and record your entire response and then post it to this blog, unedited. Just name the time and place.
Sincerely,
William Smith
Merrimack, NH
