When I started blogging in October of 2003, I had the toughest time deciding what I wanted to call my blog. There weren’t nearly as many blogs on national politics out there as there are now, so I went with a name that would show up well on Google: Conservative Blogger. I figured the generic name would help people find the blog and I bought the domain name.

Conservative Blogger to become FirstInTheNation.US
Over time, though, I think the name has become too generic. With as many great voices as there are being heard in the blogosphere today, Conservative Blogger, doesn’t work as a name anymore. While it gives you a sense of what the blog might be about, it tells nothing of the blog’s focus.
I thought I might try to use my name in the domain, but my own name is nearly as generic as my blog’s. At that point, I decided to regroup.
Blogs are primarily set apart by content, so I decided I’d like for this blog to evolve into politics on both the national and state levels. It was then I selected this blog’s new identity:
FirstInTheNation.US
“First in the Nation” tells the reader that it’s about New Hampshire and politics in general. I went with the .US domain to give it more of an American identity. The new blog design and website address should be live sometime in May. All of the existing ConBlog content will eventually be archived there.
Coming soon!
