Before results even started coming in last night, the networks telegraphed what they had been sitting on all day long.
The “breaking news” headlines on all of the websites for the major news outlets said something to the effect of “voters upset about the economy.”
Several weeks ago, I said that I though this election would turn out more like 1992 than 1980. ’92 was completely about the economy and Bill Clinton won the presidency on the back of four words, “It’s the economy, stupid.”
Before the votes were even counted last night, I knew who would win. The only uncertainty would be the margin of victory. John McCain never stood a chance.
So, now we are faced with President-Elect Barack Obama. Clearly, to quote an email from my friend Ken Gorrell, “We’ve just elected the most liberal President with the weakest resume in history.”
The campaign to hold Barack Obama accountable for 2012 starts now. ObamaWatch.us is coming soon…
More post-election analysis later today…
