“Jesus Would Be Appalled…”

I’m so glad that John Edwards has a direct line to Jesus.
In an interview on Beliefnet.com, Edwards says that Jesus Christ himself would be taken aback by the attitude of the United States toward the needy and toward religion in general.
Christ was not available for comment. Apparently, he’s only speaking through John Edwards. (C’mon…if Hillary could channel Eleanor Roosevelt back when she was First Lady then it’s at least possible, right?)
Edwards wants to cast stones, huh? Alright…I’ll play along.
Say, John…how about that ginormous house you just built? You know, the one that’s 28,200 square feet? Right…the same one that’s on about 102 acres and has an estimated price tag of about six million dollars… Yes, that’s it: “Casa del Edwards,” as I like to call it.
Do you think Jesus would be appalled at that, John?
Or, hey…how about the two bloggers you had on your staff that criticized the Catholic church and Christians? You know—some of those freaks who actually kind of believe in Jesus Christ??
Maybe I’m way off base here, but didn’t Jesus also have a problem with…I don’t know…hypocrisy?? I mean, I’m not all that religious personally so I could have this totally wrong but…well…I’ve seen “Godspell.” I’ve watched “Jesus of Nazareth.” John, buddy…”let he among you who is without sin,” dude.
I’m thinking that John Edwards should keep his stones to himself.
(Oh, my…that sounds so bad on second read. I’m keeping it anyway.)
There aren’t two Americas, as Edwards is fond of saying. There are only the two faces of John Edwards and each of them will say whatever it takes to get elected President.
