Yeah, But Not All At Once…

Remember the “First 100 Hours?” That was the time in which the Democrats were going to pass particular pieces of their agenda? Well, apparently, it’s more of a guideline than an actual countdown.
From the AP, via Yahoo! News:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was touting a plan to push six bills through a Democratic House in 100 hours or less as early as June of last year. She’s reached the halfway point — in fewer than 20 hours, according to her count.

But just as the official clock for a basketball or football game stops for time-outs and commercial breaks, Democrats aren’t counting the minutes spent on business unrelated to those six designated bills.

So while the House has been in session for almost 48 hours since the 110th Congress was sworn in Jan. 4, the clock on Pelosi’s Web site says only 17 hours 48 minutes have elapsed.

“We’re just counting the legislative hours,” Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill explained.

So, let’s forget the fact that the House didn’t do anything for a week after the 110th Congress was sworn in on January 4, 2007. Let’s also forget that they purposely took the day off for the BCS Championship Game between Florida and Ohio State. Now, they’re counting only the legislative time–and specifically for the items on their “100 Hour” agenda. Any other legislative item that may come up in that time doesn’t count on the clock.
Conceivably, it could take months for the “First 100 Hours” to elapse. Typical Liberal Democrat double-speak. Odds are, however, that they’ll accomplish all of the agenda items and then pat themselves on the back because they didn’t need anywhere near the 100 hours to complete them. They’ll chalk it up as a win for the American people and a clear indicator that they’re working with “the voice of the people” and the MSM will come close to near orgasm as a result.
In my book, 100 hours is 100 hours. They already blew it when they chose to do nothing the first week of the term. Now, they’re just bending the clock to meet their public relations needs. That’s not “the voice of the people.” That’s just typical Liberal politics.
