The Big O…

Freshman senator Barack Obama (D-IL) recently visited my home state of New Hampshire and, to see it told in the press, you’d think we were all having collective Obamasms just because he was here.
It’s bad enough that my state’s governor, John Lynch, was tripping all over himself to have this guy here. Lynch were the original headliners at the fundraiser Obama was attending, but he cancelled them because Obama would sell more tickets.
Oh, how he slays me. I can’t stop laughing. (It’s at this moment that I wish HTML had tags for sarcasm.)
As if the media frenzy and the arousal of NH Democrats weren’t enough, a group called DraftObama.org will begin running television commercials in New Hampshire next week. Folks, it’s December of 2006. We’re a year out from campaigning for the Primary.
In fact, here’s the ad:

Barack Obama is a first term Senator who hasn’t accomplished anything and people want to put him up for President?? Amazing.
One would think that a potential future President of the United States might be able to endure a little criticism? No…I guess not.
While Obama was here in New Hampshire, there was an open microphone that caught his conversation with columnist Maureen Dowd:
OBAMA : “You talked about my ears, and I just want to put you on notice: I’m very sensitive about — What I told them was, ‘I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears’.”
DOWD: “We’re trying to toughen you up.”
Trying to toughen him up? If this guy is to be President someday, shouldn’t he be tough already?!?! Don’t pick on his ears?? You have got to be kidding me? (Yes, I did hear the audio for myself and you can, too–right on Rush’s site.) That does it. I’m calling him Barack Earbama from here on in.
Look, people annointed Howard Dean early on in the game, too…and look how that turned out for the Democrats. While I’m sure Barack Obama is a great guy, he’s just not proven that he’s got the ability to lead a nation. Perhaps he could…I don’t know…maybe do something first before he decides to run.
I’m just sayin’…
