Disclosure…

Some have wondered where I’ve been lately and the answer is…well…an interesting one. Blogging has been light because I’m in a production of the musical “Annie.” Yes, that’s right, Annie.
For those who don’t know, I’ve got a fairly lengthy history of being involved in theatrical productions since I was about 12 years old. It started when I was in the seventh grade and was cast in the title role for “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Since then, I’ve done it all: I’ve acted, directed, built set, focused lights, swept the stage, produced–you name it.
I took a long hiatus about ten years ago and, since then, I’ve only been involved with two productions. That’s been mostly because of my work schedule. It’s tough to balance a full-time career in I.T. and take on the production schedule of community theatre. I got involved this time at the request of an old friend and I’m having a GREAT time. The company of actors and the crew I’m working with are a great bunch of people and I’m having a wonderful time.
Now, it turns out that I’m actually playing three parts in the show. (I never like to do things “small.”) I’m Bundles the laundry man in Act I, as well as one of the folks in the “Hooverville” scene. In Act II, I actually play someone of interest…
Harold Ickes.
No, not that Harold Ickes. I mean this Harold Ickes—his father.
Harold L. Ickes was a Republican and was one of the chief architects of F.D.R.’s New Deal. (“Honest Harold” was also Secretary of the Interior under Roosevelt.) So, at least I don’t have to masquerade as a Democrat this weekend. :)
The show goes up this weekend. I’ll be back to blogging sometime Mothers’ Day or after.
Wish me luck!
