They Call This Reform?…

I know the Libs are going to love this, but…well…I’m beside myself today. I’m also damned good and mad at my Republican bretheren.
My Way News – Congress Unites for Illegal-Immigrant Deal
OK…so…the Senate passed “compromise legislation” to turn close to eleven million ILLEGAL immigrants into tax-paying citizens of the United States of America. Since this compromise is very different than the version that the House passed, the compromise now goes to them for approval.
The only problem is that we’ve passed immigration reform that has absolutely no hope of stopping illegal immigration.
My friends, legislation like this is just bad law. Plain and simple. The ILLEGAL immigrants who will now receive “amnesty” are getting no more than a virtual slap on the wrist and the reward of citizenship—which is why they came here in first place!
Today, Congress made breaking the law inconsequential.
You know, we’ve been here before. Most people assume that the last time was 1986, but it wasn’t. In fact, since 1986 amnesty has been granted seven times:

The Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty of 1986 – the “one-time only” blanket amnesty for some 2.8 million illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Amnesty of 1994 – a temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Extension Amnesty of 1997 – an extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.
The Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty of 1997 – an amnesty for nearly one million illegal aliens from Central America.
The Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA) of 1998 – an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.
The Late Amnesty of 2000 – an amnesty for approximately 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty.
The LIFE Act Amnesty of 2000 – a reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty to an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens.

Seven times. We’ve had laws on the books for YEARS against illegal immigration, and Congress has granted seven separate amnesty programs. Unbelievable.
The truly sad part is that 20 years from now, we’ll probably be doing this very same thing all over again–granting amnesty to millions of illegals because nothing has been done to stop the flow across the border.
Oh, and here’s a detail I hadn’t heard in the press (emphasis added by me):

Officials said it could take as long as 13 to 14 years for some illegal immigrants to gain citizenship. It part, that stems from an annual limit of 450,000 on green cards, which confer legal permanent residency and are a precursor to citizenship status.

13 to 14 YEARS. Hell, there are still people filing from 1986 when the last blanket amnesty was granted!
We will never get ahead of this problem—and, yes, it is a problem.
Congress did America the ultimate disserivce today. Not only did they fail to safeguard the borders of our sovereign nation, they’ve also failed to uphold the law that they themselves created. I expect this kind of stuff from the Democrats, but not the Republicans.
Call this what you want: political expedience…placation of potential voters…you can even call it “CYA.” One thing’s for sure, though. There’s no way in Hell that this could EVER be called “reform.”
Shame on the Republicans in the Senate for not having the backbone to stand up for what the MAJORITY of Americans want: enforcement of current law.
