The Democrats have finally found a mid-term election year message:
Forbes.com – Democrats Pledge to ‘Eliminate’ Osama
Too bad it’s only four and one half years too late.
They’ve also pulled a very John Kerry-esque “flip-flop” from their position of bringing the troops home now:
In the position paper to be announced Wednesday, Democrats say they will double the number of special forces and add more spies, which they suggest will increase the chances of finding al-Qaida’s elusive leader. They do not set a deadline for when all of the 132,000 American troops now in Iraq should be withdrawn.
“We’re uniting behind a national security agenda that is tough and smart and will provide the real security George Bush has promised but failed to deliver,” Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in remarks prepared for delivery Wednesday.
So, they’ve tried to block George W. Bush’s every move the last few year and now–all of a sudden–getting behind the War on Terror is the “right thing to do?” The Dems think that they’re going to take the issue of national security away from Republicans, but the average voter will see right through this tactic.
All you really need to do is ask them the following questions to take the issue away from them:
“Why did it take you four and one half years to decide it was time to ‘eliminate’ Osama bin Laden?”
“Why didn’t you make this ‘commitment’ on September 12, 2001?”
The difference between Democrats and Republicans on national security is simple: Democrats analyze and evaluate poll data when it comes to protecting America and Republicans actually do the job.
Hey, but nice job Democrats. Thanks for catching up to the rest of us on the need to eliminate Osama bin Laden. It only took you about…1650 days.
