The “Media Spin Machine” is abuzz with breaking news today:
MSNBC.com – White House Chief of Staff Resigns
They’re caling it a “shake-up,” but it’s really not. Andy Card has put in four full years (plus) and has decided the time is right for him to leave the White House.
Further, the talking heads this morning are saying it’s tied to Bush approval ratings, but that makes absolutely no sense. Bush isn’t running for anything!! Chief of Staff is a high-profile, high-stress job and Card has certainly had some major issues to deal with in his tenure.
Card will be replaced by Office of Management and Budget director Josh Bolten. Bolten has also been Deputy Chief of Staff, so this is certainly no stretch for him. Bolten is a solid choice and will undoubtedly serve well.
I can’t wait to hear the Liberal list of things that Andy Card is supposedly resigning in the wake of. They’re going to blame him for everything from “warrantless wiretaps” to “global warming.” They might even try to pin the Kennedy assassination on him while they’re at it.
They’re also going to tell you that the GOP is frightened to lose its majority status in the mid-term elections this November. Frightened? Hardly. Even if they were, Card’s resignation would have absolutely no effect on mid-terms.
Yep, here we go…”approval ratings, approval ratings, approval ratings.” And so it begins…
