It’s gonna kill me to say this. OK, maybe not kill me, but it’s slightly painful to make this admission:
I respect George Clooney.
Not because of his acting ability.
Not because of his writing.
Not for his directorial efforts.
Certainly not for his political stance.
I respect George Clooney because, even though I think he’s 100% wrong when it comes to political issues, he’s got the stones to say what he believes and why.
The Blog | George Clooney: I Am a Liberal. There, I Said It! | The Huffington Post
Writing today at the Huffington Post, Clooney proclaims he is indeed a liberal and does so un a very unapologetic way. How refreshing. I wish more people on that side of the aisle could do that because I’d have a hell of a lot more respect for them.
Clooney’s right. (Man, that hurts to say.) He’s sick of the blatant hypocrisy and spin control that a lot of liberals do. This paragraph in his brief posting, is probably the most telling of exactly how fed up he is. (Censoring of expletives, done by me.)
The fear of been (sic) criticized can be paralyzing. Just look at the way so many Democrats caved in the run up to the war. In 2003, a lot of us were saying, where is the link between Saddam and bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We knew it was bulls**t. Which is why it drives me crazy to hear all these Democrats saying, “We were misled.” It makes me want to shout, “F**k you, you weren’t misled. You were afraid of being called unpatriotic.”
I don’t agree with his premise, but I definitely concur with his conclusion and I’d like to take it a step further. Not only were the liberals afraid of being called unpatriotic, they were terrified that they would lose votes or something even more important as a result…money. That’s why they’re saying they were misled.
They don’t have the guts to stand up and just be honest, and that’s why the liberals aren’t resonating with voters and why they’re not winning elections.
You’re wrong about a bunch of stuff, George, but I respect the fact that you’re willing to stand in the pocket and take the sack. You’ve definitely got some stones, man.
Thanks for being so bold and yet so wrong all at the same time.
