Media Bias?

A new study out from UCLA discovers (GASP!) that media bias is REAL! Further, it also discovers in what they say is ground-breaking fashion that “almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.”
In fact it’s so ground-breaking that the rest of us have known it for years.
Quoting the press release from UCLA:

“I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican,” said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study’s lead author. “But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are.”

I’m slightly concerned that the NAACP is referred to as a “think tank” in the press release. Aside from that, I don’t think I’m overly surprised at anything they’ve said so far.
Complete study results will be available in the latest issue of the Quarterly Journal of Economics which should be available any day now.
This will likely be treated as a huge surprise or a ground breaking study by some in the media, but to you and me it’s a trend we’ve seen for years. Thanks for catching on UCLA.
