I was in my SUV today, driving back from picking up a snow blower out on the Seacoast. As I drove through Manchester on my way home, I was surprised to see a billboard with the following artwork:

John Kerry? The Junior Senator from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts? The man who was beaten quite soundly in the last Presidential election OVER A YEAR AGO?
Yes…the very same John Kerry. Someone clearly didn’t copy him on the memo that the campaign ended last November! Sadly, though, this is part of Kerry’s futile attempt to maintain some kind of political viability so he can run for President again.
If I were a family member of Kerry’s, I’d be concerned because this is a political cry for help. He’s so desperate to maintain some kind of presence that he’s still campaigning. He doesn’t even have any real opponents right now and this is what he’s resorting to.
It’s intervention time, John, and I’m only doing this because I care.
One of Kerry’s biggest problems in the ’04 campaign is that none of his “plans” had any specifics at all. He’d always say, “I have a plan,” and you’d go to his website to see the plan–like he told you to do–and there was absolutely no detail. No specifics. Nothing. It’s kind of difficult to prove you can lead when you can’t even tell the world what your plan is.
Well, here we are a year or more later and the song remains the same, my friends.
I humored the billboard (in as much as I could), and I went to JohnKerry.com. Want to know what I found? Yep. You got it. Here, in all its glory, is John Kerry’s master plan for a stable Iraq:
“It comes down to this: the phased withdrawal of American forces is part of the strategy for success. Only by offering a clear plan that has the Iraqis standing up for Iraq will the administration finally do right by our troops – and finally give Iraqis the confidence to stand up and fight for themselves so we don’t have to.”
What?? That’s the plan? Now, in fairness to Kerry, there are eight other paragraphs on that page but, again, there are no details!
John Kerry’s rationale for us taking troops out of Iraq is simple: others are saying it so it sounds good. This is the same man who said during his campaign for President that he’d hoped to reduce the number of troops in Iraq, but that we’d still be there through his first term—which would have ended in January 2009.
Hey, look! It’s another John Kerry Flip-Flop! What a shock!!
John Kerry doesn’t have an original thought and, as a result, he’ll never have a plan that he can execute. He never has. He says, “No war has ever been won with sound-bites. No war has ever been won by keeping the American people in the dark. No war has ever been won without a clear strategy.”
Wow. The same thing could be said about his “plan for a stable Iraq.” No plan has ever been made up of sound bites. No plan has ever been successful by keeping the American people in the dark. No plan has ever been executed without a clear strategy.
Kerry is guilty of what he himself criticizes.
Look, Senator, the time has come. Put up or shut up. The tripe you have on JohnKerry.com is NOT a plan and I challenge you to actually come up with one. You want to be the next President of the United States? Fine… Lead. Show us a real plan. Show us you can back up the trash that comes out of your mouth. Show us you’ve got more than eight paragraphs that say nothing more than, “I think this, too, and we should start a phased reduction.”
You can’t—and likely because someone else hasn’t come up with the plan for you to parrot yet and you aren’t fooling anyone.
