When Being American Isn’t American Enough…

I’ve got a few topics that really get me fired up. We’re about to get to one of them.
So, I’m reading the news online when I see the following headline on the Drudge Report–IRONIC: Canadian Singer Alanis Morissette Becomes American Citizen. I think to myself, “well, good for her…although it seems odd for someone that’s such a proud Canadian.” Then I clicked the link for the story. What I thought would be a rather interesting article was more of an “oh, wait” story. As in, “oh, wait…that’s not all.”

I’ve Got Mine. Where’s Yours?…

Clearly there’s no advertising on my site. It’s not where I want to venture at this time because ConBlog exists as a hobby and an outlet for me. However, if I did advertise or shill products, I clearly would tell everyone to get the Hero Band.

The Best News Since Bush’s Re-Election…

Oh my word, I can’t contain my excitement today. I didn’t fall in love…I didn’t get an audience with the President…I didn’t hit the lottery…today’s development is far better than any of that, at least in a political sense.
Howard Dean has just been elected the new chairman of the Democrat National Committee.
Somebody pinch me!

It’s Time For Eason Jordan To Go…

I know, I know…who’s Eason Jordan, right?
Jordan is the Chief News Executive at CNN. While attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mr. Jordan asserted that U.S. troops were deliberately firing on journalists in Iraq.
In response to a question by Congressman Barney Frank, Eason charged that the American military had deliberately targeted and killed twelve journalists in Iraq. He then clarified, saying he was simply emphasizing that journalists were not “collateral damage” or just caught in the crossfire.

The New Cold War…

So…North Korea has the bomb.
At least, that’s what they said today. We’ve known since 2003 that they had at least one–because they told us–but now they claim they will “bolster” their nuclear arsenal. We’ve been here before in our history. It was a different nation and a different time. Instead of the Soviet Union, it is now North Korea. What we have, is the beginning of a brand new Cold War.

Dispatches From the Desert, #3…

There has been a disturbing trend in the viewing of the military in what we do and how we do it. I think a large part of this has to do with the large number of our population whose only experience with the military is through text books, the occasional parade, and what they have learned through mass media and the public school system. Allow me to share with you my own personal moment of clarity in regards to the U.S. military and its mission.
