Hours of research, investigation and polling–as well as millions of dollars–went into answering why John Kerry lost the election.
Just think, if he’d asked me I could have saved him some cash.

Listen up, Liberals. I can make this really simple for you. You won’t have to spend lots of money trying to figure it out. I’m about to tell you why John Kerry lost, so pay attention…
John Kerry lost the election for one reason: 3,332,383 people thought he sucked.
I mean, it’s really that simple. The election was painted as a choice between two men and, in many cases, a choice between the lesser of two evils. Let’s say that’s true for a moment. That margin of votes between George W. Bush and John Kerry says that 3,332,383 people thought Kerry was the worse choice.
It’s really a shame that John Kerry, the Democrats or Evan Thomas of Newsweek Magazine can’t seem to figure that out. Newsweek is re-publishing its 45,000 word election issue as a book titled, “Election 2004″ next week and it seems that the best way to sum it up is the way I saw it on the Drudge Report earlier today:
WE DIDN’T LOSE THE ELECTION, WE JUST DIDN’T WIN: KERRY SPEAKS: WHAT WENT WRONG…
That really does sum up the attitude of Kerry and the Democrats. Even Jesse Jackson’s been getting into the act.
The fact is John Kerry did lose the election. Hell, Al Gore had a close race than John Kerry did. The left doesn’t want to admit it, but when you receive more than 51% of the vote, you get a mandate. They don’t want to admit it, but when you have a clear majority you have a clear mandate.
The last President to win with a clear majority was George Herbert Walker Bush in 1988. Clinton didn’t have one in 1992 or 1996–in fact, more people voted against him than for him. Al Gore may have had more popular votes, but didn’t have a clear majority or mandate especially since he didn’t win. This means that George W. Bush is the first President in sixteen years to have a clear majority.
There’s not a lot of mystery here, folks. Kerry lost because he couldn’t get enough people to vote for him and his “plan.” People saw him as stiff, indecisive and an opportunist and they voted for the other guy. Kerry may run again in 2008, but I don’t think he’ll be the guy the Democrats put up. He’d have to completely reinvent himself and his image to do that, and I don’t think anyone’s going to let him forget where he came from.
If the Democrats want to win the White House they need to find a way to appeal to the middle without telling them they’re stupid when they disagree. If anything, the Left has learned that they can’t win with their own base and their own issues. They need to bridge the gap and the Republicans found the best way to do that in this cycle. Bush didn’t win because of the “Religious Right.” He won because people thought he was the better choice than Kerry.
You don’t need 45,000 freaking pages to tell you that.
You don’t need in-depth interviews with John Kerry or Mary-Beth Cahill or Bob Shrum to fabricate excuses.
You don’t need Evan Thomas or Jonathan Alter to spell it out for you.
You don’t even need me to help you figure it out.
All you need is one number: 3,382,383. The rest you’ll be able to see for yourself quite easily.
